My great grandfather was William Lee Van Pelt. He was born in Beloit, Kansas in 1897. His father was John Van Pelt. His mother was Martha (Butler). The 1920 & 1930 censuses show William Lee Van Pelt's father as from Michigan & Illinois (obviously, one is not correct). I've heard that John Van Pelt left the family when William was 4. William had a sister - Julia Butler Van Pelt who married a Gearhart. Thanks in advance, Dave Piper
