Mrs. Mary A. McCracken, wife of W. W. The sickness was BrightÂ’s disease which afflicted her for several years. She was patient under her affliction and bore cheerfully what had come to her in her old age. Deceased was well known and highly esteemed by all who knew her and her circle of friends was large. She was first married to John Aldridge who died in the year 1872. In 1875 she was united in marriage to W. W. McCracken with whom she lived to the time of her death. There was born to the deceased one child, Mrs. Mary J., who is married to Ralph R. Reeves and lives in Beloit. When first coming to Kansas the family settled in the south part of Jewell county and lived there a few years, after which the family moved to Asherville and in 1882 removed to Beloit where she passed away. Deceased leaves four brothers, three living in Iowa and one in Illinois. L. K. Mullette, who lives in Beloit, is a nephew to the departed. She was a woman whose desire was to help in caring for others and her natural kindness of heart led her into many good and kind acts. She fed the hungry and no one was turned away from her home who needed food but received help. She was a good neighbor, a kind mother and a faithful wife. She will be missed in the home and community. Funeral services were held at the house, conducted by Elder B. F. McMillan on the 29th day of December. The burial took place in Elmwood cemetery. B. F.
