    2. Re: Giddings family of Beloit, Kansas. In reply to Sandy Petty's query about the Giddings family of Beloit, Kansas, I don't know about the year 1920, but there was a Giddings family that lived on the opposite end our our block and across the street when my family lived in Beloit in the early 1950s. They had two boys near my age - Kenny Joe and Donnie. I'm pretty sure Kenny Joe's dad was Joe Giddings. (My dad was born in 1921 and Joe was about the same age, so this may been one of the ones in question.) I just called my sister to confirm the names and she reminded me that they had cousins who lived a block to the north of us and one of those kids' names was Evelyn. (I remembered that house because I learned to tell time there somehow, but didn't remember that it was a Giddings family that lived there.) Kenny Joe and Donnie used to come down to our house at dusk during the summer (along with other neighborhood kids) and we'd play "Hide-and-Go-Seek". I was about 7 or 8 years old and had a crush on Kenny Joe at that time. I would giggle whenever he was "It" and would chase me, but I could run really fast in those days and he never caught me. One time he and I both hid in one of our apple trees and we were never caught.... but we also didn't come down out of the tree until the rest of the kids declared the game over so we made sure we wouldn't be caught. I have a cousin who still lives in Beloit where he owns a flower shop, but it has been years since I've been back there. This query has brought back some pleasant childhood memories, and if sending this type of reply to the List was the wrong way to answer the query, I apologize. Kathy G.
