Ks Obituaries Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ks/MitchellObits?read=8 Surname: Sherwin, Cotton, Whitaker, Eaton ------------------------- DIED--SHERWIN--At her home, in Plum Creek township, Mitchell county, Kansas, September 5, 1889, after a short illness, Mrs. Caroline Atkinson Sherwin. Deceased was born in 1813, at Stanstead, P.Q., and resided there until about 1855, when they removed to Iowa, and from Iowa to Kansas about six years ago. She was converted and baptized in her youth, and has always been a true christian, loved by all who knew her. She was married 58 years, and left a husband, Norman Sherwin, and eight children--Chamblin, Dennis, Anson and Byron and Mrs. Emily Cotton, in Plum Creek township; Mrs. Whitaker, at Wheatland, Dakota; Charles, in Colorado, and Mrs. Eaton, in Osage, Iowa, besides a large circle of friends, to mourn her loss. The funeral services were held at the family residence, conducted by Rev. J. L. King. The singing was conducted by Messrs. Hicks and Watts and Misses Hicks and Blanch Williams, of Beloit. The remains were followed to Elmwood cemetery, at Beloit, by a large concourse of neighbors and friends. CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank our friends for their sympathy and assistance during the sickness and death of our wife and mother; and, especial thanks are due the choir who rendered such beautiful music.
