This instrument was filed for record on the 5 day of April A.D. 1901 at 9:15 o’clock A.M. C. DRACKER, Register of Deeds. This Indenture, Made this 30th day of March A.D. 1901, between Samuel CARTER a widower of Mitchell County, in the State of Kansas, of the first part, and Thomas D. HULL of Mitchell County, in the State of Kansas, of the second part: WITNESSETH, That the said party of the first part, in consideration of the sum of Five Thousand & no/100 DOLLARS, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, does by these presents grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns, all the following described REAL ESTATE, situated in the County of Mitchell and State of Kansas, to-wit: The West half of the South West quarter (W ½ S. W ¼) of Section number Twenty Six (26) and the East half of the South East quarter (E ½ S.E. ¼) of Section Number Twenty Seven (27) all of Township number Seven (7) South of in Range number Six (6) West of the Sixth Principal Meridian containing 160 acres according to the U. S. Govt. Survey. (I. R. Stamps $5.00) TO HAVE AND TO HOLD THE SAME, Together with all and singular the tenements, hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining, forever. And said Samuel CARTER for himself and heirs, executors or administrators, does hereby covenant, promise and agree, to and with said part of the second part, that at the delivery of these presents he is lawfully seized in his own right, of an absolute and indefeasible estate of inheritance, in fee simple, of in all and singular the above granted and described premises, with the appurtenances; that the same are free, clear, discharged and unincumbered of and from all former and other grants, titles, charges, estates, judgments, taxes, assessments and incumbrances, of what nature or kind soever; and that he will WARRANT AND FOREVER DEFEND the same unto said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns, against said party of the first part, his heirs, and all and every person or persons whomsoever, lawfully claiming or to claim the same. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, The said party of the first part has hereunto set his hand, the day and year first above written. Samuel CARTER State of Kansas, Mitchell County, ss. BE IT REMEMBERED, That on this 30th day of March A.D. 1901, before me, the undersigned a Notary Public in and for the County and State aforesaid, came Samuel CARTER who is personally known to me to be the same person who executed the within instrument of writing, and such person duly acknowledged the execution of the same.
