CARTER wife of said Joseph CARTER of the County of Mitchell in the State of Kansas in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred seventy and no/100 Dollars in hand paid by The Chicago, Kansas, Western Railroad Company, a corporation duly organized under the laws of the State of Kansas, have bargained and sold, and do hereby grant and convey, unto the said The Chicago, Kansas & Western Railroad Company, its successors and assigns forever the following premises, situated in the County of Mitchell and State of Kansas, and described as follows: All the land in the South West Quarter of the North West Quarter of Section Four (4) Township Nine (9) South of Range Seven (7) West lying within Fifty (50) feet of Center line of Main track of said Railroad also all the land in the Northwest Quarter of the North West Quarter of said Section Four (4) lying within One hundred (100) feet of said center line, also all the land in the North half of the North East Quarter of Section Five (5) Township and Range abovesaid, lying within one hundred (100) feet of said center line and containing in all three pieces Eight and eighty-one hundredths (8 8/100) acres more or less. To have and to hold, said premises, with the appurtenances, unto the said The Chicago, Kansas & Western Railroad Company, its successors and assigns, forever, and the said Joseph CARTER and wife, for themselves and heirs doth here by covenant with said Railroad Company, its successors and assigns, that they are lawfully seized of the premises aforesaid, that the ! premises are free and clear from all incumbrances whatsoever; and that he will forever warrant and defend the same, with the appurtenances, unto the said The Chicago, Kansas & Western Railroad Company its successors and assigns, against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever. In testimony whereof, the said Joseph CARTER and Charity P. CARTER have hereunto set their hands this 20” day of July A.D. 1887. Joseph CARTER Charity P.
