Could some kind person do an obit look-up for Martin B. Plymire born 2-23-1844 Beloit, Kansas and died 7-8-1892 at Beloit. Also for his wife, Mary M. Sloan Plymire born 7-24-1848 and died 7-18-1913 Beloit, Kansas. These are my great grandparents. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks so much. Shirley Barker Sturgill
Ralph Haigh, son of Arthur Haigh and Essie Williams, was my uncle. He was married to my dad's oldest sister, Ora Elta Anderson. Unfortunately, I don't have any information on the Williams family but one of my Haigh cousins (one of Ralph's children) may. If you will contact me directly I'll try to put you in contact with her. Kathy G.
I am looking for anyone with information on Arthur HAIGH and Ralph HAIGH and Estella (Essie) D. WILLIAMS (from 1927 Beloit City Directory). I am looking for the connection between Essie WILLIAMS and Thomas (1834-1902) and Arminta (1836-1938) WILLIAMS. In Arminta's probate record, Ralph HAIGH was administrator. Thomas and Arminta WILLIAMS are buried in Shiloh Cemetary, Bloomfield Twp. It appears he had property in the township very near my great great grandfather William Presley WILLIAMS (m. Mary E. Schooley) and his son William Harvey WILLIAMS (m. Lucy Noah). Some land was in Mary's name. Re: Giddings family of Beloit, Kansas. In reply to Sandy Petty's query about the Giddings family of Beloit, Kansas, I don't know about the year 1920, but there was a Giddings family that lived on the opposite end our our block and across the street when my family lived in Beloit in the early 1950s. They had two boys near my age - Kenny Joe and Donnie. I'm pretty sure Kenny Joe's dad was Joe Giddings. (My dad was born in 1921 and Joe was about the same age, so this may been one of the ones in question.) I just called my sister to confirm the names and she reminded me that they had cousins who lived a block to the north of us and one of those kids' names was Evelyn. (I remembered that house because I learned to tell time there somehow, but didn't remember that it was a Giddings family that lived there.) Kenny Joe and Donnie used to come down to our house at dusk during the summer (along with other neighborhood kids) and we'd play "Hide-and-Go-Seek". I was about 7 or 8 years old and had a crush on Kenny Joe at that time. I would giggle whenever he was "It" and would chase me, but I could run really fast in those days and he never caught me. One time he and I both hid in one of our apple trees and we were never caught.... but we also didn't come down out of the tree until the rest of the kids declared the game over so we made sure we wouldn't be caught. I have a cousin who still lives in Beloit where he owns a flower shop, but it has been years since I've been back there. This query has brought back some pleasant childhood memories, and if sending this type of reply to the List was the wrong way to answer the query, I apologize. Kathy G.

I knew Thelma Giddings and knew of her Father Joe. My Grandparents lived close to them near the Saltville community back in the 20's. I knew Thelma in later years too as she was in the antique business. Hello out there. Anyone researching Corkins or Calkins? Mine were in the Beloit area in the late 1800's. There were also in Indiana prior to that. Some went on to FL, some to TX or CA. -------------------------------------------------------------- SueAnn Sanders flgeekgirl@home.com Duval Co, FL GenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~flduval St. Johns Co, FL GenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~flstjohn Rootsweb Sponsor SANDERS, PHILLIPS, COPELAND, WALL FLGenWeb Project Webmaster http://www.rootsweb.com/~flgenweb --------------------------------------------------------------
