At the age of 22 he was united in marriage with Miss Caroline Flora. To this union were born three children. Mrs Ida Kaulen, Wathena, Kansas; J.N. Quakenbush, Beloit Kansas; and James W. who passed on with his mother in infancy. In 1882 he was again married to Mrs Tallie Hughes of Metropolis Illinois. This union was blessed with three children. In addition to the widow the deceased is survived by nine sons and daughters, twenty-four grandchildren, one great-grand daughter and one sister, Mrs J S. Abram of Beloit; all of who attended the funeral except Mrs J S Abram and Mr and Mrs Joe Kaulen. They visited him however while he was in the Quinter hospital. For many months the deceased has been a great sufferer and because of that his demise was not unexpected, yet it brought great sorrow not only to his relatives but a large circle of friends in Mitchell and Sheridan Counties. >From 1883 to 1905 he lived near Scottsville, Mitchell Co and from 1905 until his death he was a resident of southeast Sheridan County where he was a great factor in the development and upbuilding of that wonderful empire. Funeral occurred December ? Bethel Church and was conducted by Rev Brown at which interment was had at Bethel's beautiful little city for the dead where so many friends and neighbors response. Thus is briefly told the history of one of the county's most highly respected and industrious citizens -- the type of citizen when passing means a great loss-- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------

At the time they were Tenants living with their landlord a Mr. J.H.Derr. He has listed as his preofession or occupation or trade in the census report that he is "A Deutish." Does anyone have a clue as to what that means? E.B. Barrett lists his profession as a farmer? Help??

    3. The 1895 Kansas State Census index lists the following BUENNINGS with the majority of them being born in Wisconsin. Albert BUENNING, 44, Wisconsin, living in Blue Hill Township, Mitchell Co. Alvin BUENNING, 5, Wisconsin, Blue Hill Township, Mitchell Co. Arther BUENNING, 17, Wisconsin, Battle Creek Township, Lincoln Co. Bertha BUENNING, 36, Wisconsin, Battle Creek Township, Lincoln Co. Herman BUENNING, 22, Wisconsin, Blue Hill Township, Mitchell Co. Lawrence BUENNING, 9, Wisconsin, Battle Creek Township, Lincoln Co. Richard BUENNING, 7, Kansas, Battle Creek Township, Lincoln Co. Sarah BUENNING, 12, Wisconsin, Battle Creek Township, Mitchell Co. Sophie BUENNING, 46, Germany, Blue Hill township, Mitchell Co. Willie BUENNING, 14, Wisconsin, Battle Creek Township, Lincoln Co. I'm trying to determine where these people originated from in Wisconsin. My great-great grandmother was Wilhelmina (Minnie BUENNING, b. 31 Oct 1848, d. 21 Feb 1913. She married Wilhelm DUEHRING on 6 Apr 1866 in Lebanon, Dodge, Wisconsin. Wilhelmina had three brothers, Arthur, Albert and Henry, which I was told moved to Nebraska. I find no BUENNINGS living in Nebraska. I found that Wilhelm DUEHRING's sister, Mary DUEHRING NIEMEIER, moved to Hope, Dickinson, Kansas in 1871 and am hoping the above BUENNINGS moved to Kansas because Mary lived there. Wilhelmina's parents were Johann and Louise BUENNING and resided in the Town of Lebanon, Dodge, Wisconsin. Wilhelmina also had a sister. Her name was lydia and she married a Mr. BOLTZ. They resided in the Town of Ixonia and the Town of Farmington, Jefferson County, Wisconsin. I'd appreciate any information that may be provided on this family. Lori Watertown, Wisconsin

    1. [KSMitchell] Henrietta Doyle obituary - Beloit, Kansas 1905
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Cm.2ADI/75 Message Board Post: This is not my family, I simply found this obit shoved in an old book I bought on Canada. I'm hoping it will prove useful for someone else. Good Luck! Henrietta Doyle was born in Shulsburg, Wisconsin, on March 2, 1870 and died at Beloit, Kansas on January 26, 1905. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Doyle were among the early arrivals in Mitchell County, coming here in 1871 and settling in Plum Creek township. In 1874, they moved into Beloit township, onto the farm on which they still reside, and where the family of 4 children, of which Henrietta was the oldest, grew up, without a sorrow, until the recent breavement came along to sever the cords that bound the members inseparably together in the tie of deepest affection. Henrietta attended the district school until she was 12 years old, her home being situated in District no. 1, the oldest in the county. When first starting to school she was among the youngest of the scholars, who were at that time being taught by the present Mrs. Hesser. The school house was a diminutive frame building that stood on the banks of the Mulberry creek, about a mile west of the present city limits of Beloit. At the age of 12 she entered the city schools of Beloit. At this point the obituary goes on about how smart she was etc. and that she graduated at the age of 17 in the class of 1887. It states she then became a teacher and for 7 years taught school in Mitchell County in both the country and districts and in the city schools of Beloit. Miss Doyle was a member of the Presbyterian church. The funeral was to take place on Saturday afternoon, January 28, and was very largely attended by friends and family. The Rev. J. G. Hilton counducted the service. She was buried in Elmwood Cemetery.
