    1. Tipton company
    2. Donna D Seidel
    3. Are you speaking of a company that started up some 20 - 30 years ago? I drove through Tipton a ocuple of months ago and the (Kent is it?) manufacturing co is going strong. I am guessing at the name and that it is still called that.... I stopped at what used to be the corner drug store - now a very handy grocer/deli/dry goods store. They had one copy of a local book called MITCHELL COUNTY 1899. volume 1 Someone culled lots of clippings from the many little town newspapers in all of MItchell County- I am reading through it now. It has tidbit about new babies, visitors coming and going from all over the US, local soldier boys serving in the Phillipines, stores opening and closing, guys falling off their horses, guys buying new buggies, local bands..... Well worth the $10 cost. I have seen 3 family members mentioned so far :-) I'm sure someone from Tipton will soon speak up about the company info you seek. 1. RE: James Anderson & wife Sarah
    2. Tom & Marguerite O'Brien
    3. Doris You are correct. This family is noted in the 1900 census for Shawnee County Kansas. The listing can be found on microfilm Series: T623 Roll: 500 Page: 147. The enumeration was taken June 1, 1900 for the 1st ward in Topeka Kansas. Starting on Line 63 the following information is shown: Anderson, James b.Feb. 1844, (cannot make out the place of birth, possibly ????????? Bay). Occupation = carpenter The children's info shows the father as born in Canada and their mother born in Ireland. Sarah, Wife b.Jan or June 1853, Ireland John, Son b. July 1875 New York Robert, Son b. June or Jan. 1878, New York Sarah, Daughter b. Jan 1881, Kansas James, Son b. Oct. 1883, Kansas George, Son b. May 1891, Kansas Fred Anderson and his family are living next door. It appears the name of the street may be Goodin St. By 1910 they are still living in Topeka. Both James and Sarah are still alive. Living with them is their son George E. and daughter Sarah. Her last name is now Todd. No spouse is shown. In 1920 James, Sarah and son George are still together living in North Topeka, Soldier Township. Hope this information is of some help to you. Beyond the outstanding "backup" it has the huge advantage of attracting email from other researchers your line. Hardly a week goes by that I don't hear from someone new with new info we share on one or another family line. Sure, I learn later that some just "take" without emailing, but we all benefit in the long run by making genealogy info public. I do mine a little "backward" - awt is my dynamic workspace. Every so often I download what I have at that point to my hard disk. Or, I could put it to a disk and send to a relative or someone - but since it may change from moment to moment as I add new data, those are only good at/for the moment I download.
