I've "rescued" a large group of photographs all belonging to the NELSON Family of Kansas, Illinois, Iowa, and Pennsylvania. Nine of the photographs are taken at studios in McPherson and Lindsborg, KS, likely all taken from sometime in the 1870's to the early 1890's. Most appear to include Rev. Oscar NELSON at various ages including the youngest when he is about 6 years old and the others in his teens and 20's. I was able through limited research to locate some census information regarding the family and have included that information at the end of the email. The group of photographs include: A family photograph taken in 1893 is identified as the "Family of A. P. NELSON" and includes parents likely in their 50's or 60's and three children including Oscar NELSON ranging in age from teens to 20's, the youngest a girl and then two older boys. In Oct 1893 there are two photographs taken of Oscar NELSON and his brother, both at the Rasmussen Studio in Rock Island, IL with the two appearing to be in their 20's at the time. The next group of five photographs are all taken in Rockford, IL, one dated Feb 1898 of Rev. Oscar NELSON and his Church, Emmanuel English Lutheran Church in Rockford, IL. There is also a photo of Oscar with his wife and baby daughter, Onah Vera NELSON, age 1 year. Someone has penciled the name "Amelia" on this photograph as well, as if that is to whom the photograph was gifted. There is also a family group in another Rockford studio photograph with Oscar, his wife, two young girls about 6-10 years old and another couple, could be Oscar's brother from an earlier photo, I'm just not sure. Another photo indicates that it was taken at Oscar's home at 135 East St in Rockford, IL and includes his wife and baby daughter Onah Vera when she is just 3 1/2 months old in 1898. Two additional photographs of Rev. Oscar NELSON are taken at studios in Davenport, IA sometime in the 1890's with Oscar likely in his teens or 20's at the time those were taken as well. Another big group come from Galesburg, IL studios and may well be Oscar NELSON'S wife and another woman, maybe a sister. There is also a photograph of two young girls which may be the same two in the photograph from Rockford noted above, again, can't be sure without identification. Two photographs of a group of three children are included in the grouping from Galesburg, the oldest a girl, the middle child a boy and then a younger girl. These photographs all appear to have been taken in the 1890's with the children likely about 4-8 years old and then 6-12 years old in the other. There are also photographs of Rev. Oscar NELSON alone and one with his wife during this time period too. An additional two photographs taken in Titusville, PA are identified as Hoogner NELSON. Both were likely taken in the early 1900's with Hoogner appearing to be 2-3 years old at the time they were taken. Two other photographs appear to related but have the writing in Swedish so I'm not sure what to make of them. One is a group of 4 young ladies in their teens taken in Davenport, IA and dated 17 Apr 1880, I believe it says "Jill Kara Mamma" on the back in addition to the date it was taken. The final photograph is actually from Sweden, Oscarsham, Kalmar, to be exact. Someone has written "Dad's Grandma" and "Grandpa same" along with and something in Swedish that looks like "Glom y den maden Maria". 1880 census of McPherson, KS: A. P.
