BTW ~ I'm pretty sure that the people are connected to the GRAHAM, REEDER, or SAVAGE families, although their last name might not be one of those. Hello, I'm brand new to the list, and would love help solving a family mystery. I've got some old family photographs, taken at the studio of Mrs. Vreeland Whitlock in McPherson, KS. Can anyone tell me when this lady was in business in McPherson? I'm hoping some dates will help me identify the family members whose pictures she took. Thanks so much, Doy Doy Louise Groenenberg Yakima, WA ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Charles, sorry to write you here but can you give me the unsubscribe address? Please?
Hello, I'm happy to announce a new Special Project, the Kansas Family Group Sheet (FGS) project. It's my privilege to be managing it, and I hope to be very busy adding family group sheets submitted by all of you. The URL for the page is http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/kansas/ . I think you'll find the page easy to read and use, but if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. The USFGS home page (http://www.rootsweb.com/~usfgs/) links to all the states. I hope you'll take advantage of this new project. Those of us who have been working to bring it to Kansas are very excited about its possibilities. Any family group that lived in Kansas, even for a short time, can be posted. THE ONLY PERSONS WHO CANNOT BE POSTED ARE THOSE WHO ARE LIVING. Each family group sheet provides space for basic information about father, mother, and children; so if you only know about one family unit, you know enough to put the information up. If you know more, you can add more family group sheets: the father's parents and siblings, the mother's parents and siblings, the children's spouses and children, and on and on. If you've traced the family into other states, you can post your group sheet in those states as well as Kansas. But just one family sheet in one state can be enough to make new and exciting connections. We've prepared the pages and forms, added search engines and links, and now it's in your hands. Send in your family group sheets. One a day, one a week, whatever works for you. Tell your fellow researchers about the site. Talk about it at your next genealogical society meeting. Mention it in your emails. The more people hear about the site, the more contributions we're likely to get; and the more contributions we receive, the more valuable the project is going to be. I'll be waiting for your family to turn up in my mailbox! Charles Barnum, KS FGS manager I started my genealogy research in Kansas about 40 years ago.
Thanks for your help, Ken... I found her!!! But do appreciate the helpful links!! Patti

I sent an earlier message and left out the most important info, SORRY ! Here is the site. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ksmcrla/ Nancy
I'm hoping someone might check for me for two obits. Just found out that two of my ancestors are buried in McPherson cemetery. Joseph Murray, died 31-Jan-1918 and Matson A. Murray, died 10-Aug-1950. Would love to have these, if someone would be able to look them up. thank you..... Patti
You will find a list at this site. If you find your name and want to place an order, you will get a copy of the origional certificate. Am not sure of the charge, but it MIGHT be $2.00. Nancy John
Would someone have access to an index - or CD - of Kansas marriages that might be searchable by bride's name and date range of say, five or ten years?????? I am looking for a marriage of Mattie I. Murray (Murry) prob. around 1895-1905 in Kansas... likely in McPherson County. Would be very grateful for any help..... Patti
Searching for descendants of - or information on - a branch of my Murray family. Joseph Murry (Murray), born in Michigan (prob. Jackson County) about 1840. At some point as yet unknown, he married Annie (or Ada?? born Maine about 1847) and had son, George abt. 1868 who died a few years later. By 1880, they were living in King City/McPherson Co., Kansas and had twins, Mattie and Matson. In 1920 he was listed as living in Lansing, KS in his sister's obit. Joseph is the son of Margery (Wright) and John W. Murray of MI. Margery was born in MA (as were both her parents) and John born in VT (as were both his parents). Anything sound familiar??
Thank you for sending me the information. Margaret ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carl M.
