Looking for information on the Bates Family who moved to Blue Rapids Township, Marshal County, Kansas from New York in the late 1860's. William C. Bates (abt 1842 - ?) and Henrietta Nelson Bates (1842-1896) along with their daughter Jessica C.Bates (b. abt 1869) appear on the 1870 Census. In the 1870's, the Bates had 4 more children: Sidney W. Bates, b. April 29, 1871 Harry Bates, b. abt. 1875 Homer Bates, b. abt 1875 (twin brother of Harry) Charles Edgar Bates, b. Nov 25, 1876. The Bates Family remained in Blue Rapids Township through the 1880 Census, then went to the Bloomington, Franklin County, Nebraska area.
