Hello, I'm a private researcher in Germany and I hope some of you could provide me with information on emigrants from my hometown area who settled in Marysville, Marshall Co., KS. ------- Modified Register for Johann Georg Grauer-11006 First Generation 1. Johann Georg Grauer-11006 was born on 10 Mar 1835 in Kusterdingen. He died on 4 Apr 1904 in Marysville, Marshall Co., KS. Johann was employed as a weaver. He emigrated in 1865 to North America. Johann married (MRIN:4049) Anna Maria Kuttler-10686 daughter of Sigmund Kuttler-7380 and Maria Agnes Walker-1170 (MRIN:699) on 13 Jun 1861 in Kusterdingen. Anna was born on 19 Nov 1837 in Wankheim. She died on 14 Feb 1916 in Marysville, Marshall Co., KS. She emigrated in 1865 from Nordamerika. They had the following children: 2 M i. Sigmund Grauer-11007 was born on 18 Jun 1861 in Kusterdingen. He emigrated in 1865 to North America. 3 M ii. Jakob Grauer-11008 was born on 31 Dec 1864 in Kusterdingen. Jakob emigrated in 1865 to North America. 4 M iii. John Grauer-16799 was born in 1873 in the U.S. He died in 1959. ------- From another source there is an indication that a Gutbrod (Goodbrod) woman had married into the Grauer family. So it can be that other members of the large Grauer fraction have settled in the same area or she was married to Sigmund or Jakob. Sigmund is very often transfered into Simon. I would be interested to get in contact with descendants of these persons and would be prepared to share ancestral information. Kind regards Ruediger Kemmler Munich, Germany ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please check out my emigration website: http://home.nexgo.de/r.kemmler

I've checked abebooks.com which is a bookfinding service, and they did not have anything listed on their query site. It is available at a few libraries, though. Probably not for checkout though. I don't know if you saw the posts about the Heritage Quest site a couple of days ago, but you can check there if you are a member or have access through your local library. If not, let me know & I'll do some checking later on tonight. It's my twin daughters' birthday today, so will be a little busy later on this afternoon and into the evening, but can check late tonight. These instructions are step by step as I have taken them from my local Library's web site. You either have to be a member of Heritage Quest, or your library does, and you would probably need to be a library card holder. At least I do. Hello Alice, I am a member of Heritage Quest also. I however, have searched for this article and am not finding it. Can you tell me what data base you clicked on to link you the book? As you know there are hundreds in the system and I just couldn't find the correct link to search. Hi listmembers, I recently discovered that Heritage Quest has placed a scanned copy of Emma Forter's History of Marshall County online. Many public libraries have access to this site either at their physical location, or for library card holders they can also access this for free at home. This site may also be accessible through your local LDS Family History Centers. If after checking you find you don't have easy access, let me know & I'll see about typing up a copy for you. I'd like to add some of these to the site, but it will take a bit of work. I'd like to start wtih biographies from listmembers first. An index to the book can be found at http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/marshall/history.html Alice US GenWeb County Coordinator for Marshall Co., KS http://skyways.lib.ks.us/kansas/genweb/marshall/ Listmom for KSMARSHA-L
One thing to note is that there are three style of draft cards.. if you are lucky you get the one with the more info.. if not at least you get a bit more. If you want to see the different forms of the reg card choose a person select their name (not the image button yet), it will take you to the next page look under the view image... there is a - tips: see blank forms area select that. Also not all the states are indexed yet .. (and kansas isn't one yet sigh)..but they say they are going to do them all. (Murphy being the man that he is has held true to form and the two states I need most aren't done. ugh). sigh.
Here's a FYI for you, I checked this out and found my grandfather's draft registration card. It didn't have quite all the information on it mentioned below, or if it did it was too faint to read, but one thing I did learn was how he spelled his last name, which was different from when he entered the country from Germany and how my parents spelled it years later.
