The LaCygne Weekly Journal Linn County Friday March 24, 1899 Elizabeth A. Martin. Thursday evening of last week Mrs. Elizabeth A. MARTIN, wife of J.T. Martin, who resides just east of LaCygne, died at the age of forty-five years. She had been ill only a few months, but the final summons came and like the true Christian wife and mother that she was, answered "I am ready." Surrounded by her family she smiled the smile that is the exponent of a Christian as the spirit left the body, and her last words were used to tell her children of the happy meeting they would have in heaven. The deceased had resided here only a few years but to all with whom she was acquainted she was very dear. She leaves a husband and six children whose sorrow is shared by our community. Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 o'clock a.m. in the M.E. church by Rev .A. D. WOOD, and the remains were interred in the Oak Lawn cemetery.
