Forty years ago lat Tuesday, February 8th, was the day of Mrs. A. MITZEL's birth. Her many friends here who have been her companions did not lose sight of this day, and this year they planned for a surprise party for her. At 8 o'clock in the evening the crowd assembled at her home greatly to her astonishment. However, Mrs. Mitzel is a lady who is always equal to any of the ordinary emergencies of life and she cordially welcomed them in the most hospital manner. It is not necessary to state that a good time was enjoyed for when the following names are read everyone will know that nothing but a good time could have existed. Music, conversation and elegant refreshments were served in abundance and when the crowd retired it was with the best wishes to Mrs. Mitzel for a long and pleasant life.
