    1. Mr. and Mrs. William GOSS
    2. The LaCygne Weekly Journal Linn County Friday October 28, 1898 While in Buffalo, New York attending the national G.A.R. encampment a year ago, Mr. and Mrs. William GOSS of this place made the acquaintance of a Methodist preacher and family. Anyone who is acquainted with Mr. GOSS will feel amused to know that he took up with the preacher. The circumstances were like this: Judge GOSS and wife were watching the big parade and close by them in the crowd this preacher and wife stood taking in the sights. For some cause the preacher made a remark about Kansas that did not please Mr. GOSS and he told the preacher in a gentlemanly way that he did not know what he was talking about. The reverend gentleman took his medicine bravely and after remaining quiet a short time, he said: "Say, Kansas, I have just been talking to my wife and we want you folks to come out and stay all night with us." Mr. and Mrs. GOSS accepted the invitation and a warm friendship has existed between the two families ever since.
