The LaCygne Weekly Journal Linn County January 6, 1899 Tuesday night, David JONES, who has resided east of LaCygne for many years, answered the death summons and passed to the great majority. He was rather a peculiar man, known far and wide as "Uncle Davy" JONES; he was benevolent, honest and kind, possessing that great trait of character of doing unto to others as he would be done by. The funeral of the deceased was held Thursday afternoon in the Christian church by Rev. B.J. BLANDING. Interment took place in the Oak Lawn cemetery. The death of David JONES makes three of the early settlers who have passed away within the last two weeks. One by one they must answer the Master's call, who doeth all things well.
