    2. The LaCygne Weekly Journal Linn County Friday July 9, 1899 East Mount Zion. Flax is badly damaged. Corn is coming out nicely. Arthur STURGEON and best girl celebrated at Butler. Oats will make from 2 to 10 bushels to the acre in this neighborhood. Floyd HALL has built a new house where the one stood that was destroyed by the storm. W.E. LINDSEY one of LaCygne's best and most jolly carpenters, was in this vicinity Monday. John GAINES came out from LaCygne the first of the week and put F. KENDALL's and Mr. REED's houses back on the foundation. Lesley KING came home from Olathe a few days ago to spend vacation with his parents. Lesley is a model young man. He has two years in school yet before he will graduate. It is reported that John McKEE, living east of here had a narrow escape from being killed by lightning last Sunday. He was knocked down and the sreen door in front of him melted.
