    1. Re: Charles Amos Tyree 1885-1960
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Worley, Gray, Tyree Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Am.2ADI/235.1 Message Board Post: Thomas, Florence Gray happens to have been my paternal grandmother's first cousin. She was the daughter of Robert James Gray and Sarah Elizabeth Worley. Sarah's brother, Reuben Green Worley, was my great-grandfather. A couple of weeks ago I was searching for something entirely different, and was looking in a book titled "Cemeteries of Miami County, Kansas." It was published by the Miami County Genealogical Society, and is not dated. There are 3 volumes. In Volume 2, on p. 206, I found the following: TYREE, Charles A. Apr. 2, 1885 - May 7, 1960 TYREE, Florence E. (Gray) Feb. 2, 1886 - Apr. 22, 1952 TYREE, Charles Robert, infant died 1922 They are buried in Lane Cemetery. I am a native of Franklin County, Kansas, just to the west of Miami County, and am not really familiar with the way the borders work, but Lane, Kansas is in Franklin County. I'm not sure why Lane Cemetery was included in the book. I have not been there. Florence's father operated a hotel in Lane, Kansas at the time of the 1910 Census. Later he moved to Osawatomie, Kansas, which is in Miami County. The Ottawa [Kansas] Herald, Tuesday, April 22, 1952, p. 3, col. 4, has the following: DEATHS MRS. C.A. TYREE Mrs. C. A. Tyree, 66, of Parker, Kas., died this morning at St. Joseph hospital, Kansas City, of a blood clot in her heart. She had been seriously ill about three weeks. Survivors are the fidofer [sic -- obviously meant to be "widower"], C. A. Tyree, of the home, a daughter, Mrs. Glenn Price, Prairie Village, Kas.; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Price was an Ottawa resident until five years ago. Ottawa is the county seat of Franklin County. I do not know which side of the state line St. Joseph Hospital is/was on, Kansas or Missouri. I searched for an obit for Charles Tyree in May 1960, but the Herald didn't print one. Charles and Florence are listed at RootsWeb WorldConnect with a daughter, Thelma, whose birthdate is not given. She may have married Glenn Price. How are you connected to the Tyrees? If you have any further information on Florences's descendants, please share. I've spent years trying to trace the Worley family, including the Grays and their children. If you're interested, I will gladly share what I have. Alma Robertson
