Nancy, This is the link where I found the family chart. Perhaps by checking the Sarah Johnson family will will find referance to Sydney. It is the same family. I have seen this reference to Sydney's family name as Johnson somewhere else. But it didn't list the source of the information. It is cureous, as Jacob's first wife was Sarah Johnson who we believe died about 1871. If Sydney was a relative of Sarah's it seems more coureous that the youngest daughter, Sarah, by the first wife is found in a neighboring county in 1880 at the age of 9 and not living with her father and step-mother. I know young girls were sent off to be servants to live with other families at this time, but age 9 seems young for this. What was your source for this information? I also considered that someone confused the two wives and just assigned Sydney Sarah's last name. If you have source inforamtion, I would be most appreciative.
