The La Cygne Weekly Journal Saturday November 25, 1882 Judge FRENCH assessed a fine of $100, and about $80 costs, against Robert WHISNER, of this city, on the verdict of the jury in the District Court that he violated the liquor law. The defendant paid the assessment and continues the management of the billiard hall. Mr. and Mrs. S.W. MOORE and children, of Louisburg, visited in La Cygne the first of the week. Mr. Moore is duly authorized to write postmaster after his name and was recently elected mayor of his city, being the first to hold the latter position, Louisburg having just been made a city of the third class.
