    1. [KSLINN] VANCE,SAUNDERS,HACKLER,LAMB
    2. Jim Laird
    3. The La Cygne Weekly Journal Saturday August 26, 1882 Jesse VANCE of Scott township, has purchased of G.R. SAUNDERS, of La Cygne, 320 acres of land in Anderson county, adjoining the southwest corner of Centerville township, Linn county, for $2,000. Mr. J.F. HACKLER, of this township, has a mule, only a little over two years old, that is a trifle more than sixteen hands high, finely developed, and well broke. It is a handsome animal--that is for a mule. Thomas LAMB, age 16 years, son of Mr. F.E. Lamb, of this township, had a wrestling match Sunday, with a companion, during which he had his right leg broken above the ankle. Within the last two or three years there have been several accidents of this kind in Linn county, and as wrastling appears to be a dangerous amusement it would be well for those inclined to indulge in it to refrain therefrom.
