The La Cygne Weekly Journal Linn County Saturday August 4, 1883 Ira THOMPSON, age two years the sixth of last June, son of Samuel Thompson, died Sunday of cholera infantum at the home of his uncle, Dr. R.G. Mendenhall, this city. The remains were taken to Ridge Far, Ill., by Mr. Thompson, for burial.

The La Cygne Weekly Journal Linn County Saturday August 4, 1883 William SMITH and Orrin REYNOLDS, two boys, took forcible possession of two chickens, July 19. Here is where the possession was nine points of the law; the cost being nothing. Wednesday, Marshal CHRITTON took the boys into Squire ATKINS' office to receive voluntary instruction in legal matters. The boys by paying $9.70, got that point of law which was lacking on the 19th.
