My ggrandmother was a Grace Bottrell, born about 1860. When I first started researching her, I saw the Wisconsin family. I have since been convinced that my Grace belongs to a Robert & Maryann Bottrell from Ontario. I haven't ruled out that your family isn't related in some way. Good Luck in your research. Darlene

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Am.2ADI/256.1 Message Board Post: Don't know if this will help you ar not, but I did find this info: Labette. - Rev. G. W. Richardson commenced preaching in a log cabin on section 27, belonging to A. W. Richardson's estate, in the fall of 1867. He continued to preach at intervals in that vicinity until the church was organized. The organization of the Labette Baptist church took place on (or about) July 25, 1870, at the residence of R. K. Jones, with the following members: Elder, G. W. Richardson; R. K. Jones, Martha Jones, Victoria Jones, and John Richardson. It was not until 1877 that a house was erected by the church. Before that meetings were held in various places, but principally in the hall or school-house. Quite a portion of the time the church has been without a pastor. The following is a list of those who have served as pastors: G. W. Richardson till 1879, J. W. Sage two years, C. T. Floyd six months, F. M. Bowman sixteen months, C. J. Bowles one year, E. Estes one year, J. T. Crawford two months in his vacation, J. W. Jones one year, W. T. Jackson, J. R. Alexande! r, T. M. Cooper and W. R. Newman. On June 7, 1900, the church building was blown to atoms by a tornado that swept over the county. The church soon went to work to erect a new building, and are now just completing it at a cost of about $1,300.

    3. The LaCygne Weekly Journal Linn County Friday February 11, 1898 "Just Forty Years Ago!" The Friends of Mrs. A. Mitzel Manage a Complete Surprise. Forty years ago lat Tuesday, February 8th, was the day of Mrs. A. MITZEL's birth. At 8 o'clock in the evening the crowd assembled at her home greatly to her astonishment. However, Mrs. Mitzel is a lady who is always equal to any of the ordinary emergencies of life and she cordially welcomed them in the most hospital manner. It is not necessary to state that a good time was enjoyed for when the following names are read everyone will know that nothing but a good time could have existed. Music, conversation and elegant refreshments were served in abundance and when the crowd retired it was with the best wishes to Mrs. Mitzel for a long and pleasant life. 1. Article: Women in Australia; February 4, 1898
    2. Jim Laird
    3. The LaCygne Weely Journal Linn County Friday February 4, 1898 Women In Australia. Well-Formed and Pretty, But Greatly Lacking in Grace. A description of the Australian belle reads not unlike that which calumniators are wont to ascribe to the Chicago girl. They are said to be, though pretty, tall and well formed, not graceful. Her feet are seldom small, her hands rarely beautiful. Moreover, she does not dress well. Her toilet has none of the chic of the Parisienne's and little of the sobriety of the Englishwoman's. Overdressed or dowdy, she produces the impression not only of having little taste, but no artistic sense of th efitness of things. Stylish and elegant women are to be seen more frequently in Melbourne than elsewhere. Nevertheless, dress is dear to the soul of an Australian, and much is spent upon it. Down in the lowest social grades dress plays a most important part. The Australian hugs the idea of equality, and believing in uniformity of dress as the visible sign thereof, often sacrifices actual comfort to obtain fashionable clothing. An Australian family makes a brave show on holidays. There may be bare feet and rags in the house, but there are cheap feathers and gloves in the street.
