Pam..... Woke up in the middle of the night and where do I go..... the computer!!!! Thought I'd post this response to the whole list just to let those of you who are unaware of the two great resources on the Internet mentioned below. Just out of curiosity I checked the Social Security Death Index at Ancestry.com and found the following: Keith White SSN 513-16-1528 Residence at time of death: Wichita, Sedgwick Co, KS 67212 born: 17 Feb 1925 died: 24 Apr 1993 Social Security number issued in Kansas before 1951 You can go to the site and search http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/vital/ssdi/main.htm Put in the last name, White, first name, Keith and right underneath that put Kansas in the box that says "Issued by". Notice when you bring up Keith White off to the right hand side there is a link saying "Request Information." Click on this and you'll get detailed information on how to request this Keith White's original Social Security application. It should list all sorts of helpful info that might help determine if this is the correct Keith White. Also, the Midwest Historical and Genealogical Society, located in Wichita, has an extensive webpage at: http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/mhgs/ They have an online obituary index of the Wichita newspaper. I checked under 1993 at: http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/mhgs/93obits.htm and sure enough listed twice is: White Keith W.------------ 26 Apr 1993 White Keith W.----------- 28 Apr 1993 If you'll go to the top of the obituary page for the Society you'll see that you can request (via "snail mail") copies of these obits/death notices for just $3 each. The obits might be info enough for you to establish whether this is the right Keith White or not. Good luck with your research. Your message: ------------------------------------------------------------ Hi There, I am helping a friend of mine do some geneology research. He is kind of lost and doesn't know where to start. In the note below I have included all the information he has. Any information that any of you could provide or add would be greatly appreciated. We have kind of hit a dead end. I am sending off an application for a copy of the marriage license to Ellsworth County but I am not sure if they will give it to us since we don't have all the information they are requesting. I am not sure if any of these people are still alive. So, here is what we have and I am hoping this rings a bell with someone. Keith White married Wilma J. ? (maiden name possibly Tannehill but just speculation could be completely wrong) in Ellsworth, Kansas about 1945 The number of children is in question . It is not known for sure if they had 3 or 4 children. In one set of records it is believed that they had a daughter born in or around 1946, another daugther in 1948, a son in 1949, and another son in 1953. >From what I can tell Wilma J. ? 's mother was born in 1888 and her father was born in 1878. My guess at the moment is that if Wilma is a Tannehill she would be from Lincoln or Ellsworth county in Kansas. Wilma J. ? attended 2 yrs of high school in Lincoln, Kansas. I know there was a William Tannehil that graduated from Lincoln High School in Kansas in 1948. Maybe that is a relative? She was employed for 10 yrs in a sheet metal aircraft work (Cesna Aircraft Company). It looks like they lived for a time in Haysville, Kansas but by November of 1961 had moved to Witchita, Kansas and may have lived their through the 1981's or in nearby Derby.
