Hi, folks. Just a bit of news from Lincoln for those of you on the list who grew up there or spent any time there: the Post Rock Restaurant is officially no more. The bricks are being stripped off the facade and then it will be bulldozed and apparently turned into a car wash. For those of you who never visited Lincoln, this will only affect you if you ever plan to visit. There is a Post Rock Motel but for how long, now that the restaurant is gone? There are only a handful of restaurants in Lincoln: four, in fact, including Pizza Hut, Hungry Hunter, Biggie Bigs (a microbrewery!) and a BBQ place only open weekends. Oh, and the Sunset Drive-In (think non-franchised Dairy Queen). I know some of you are planning to visit Lincoln this summer and others may be thinking about making a visit at some point. I would encourage you to stop by the Kyne House and Museum, home of the Historical Society. The HS recently completed a huge addition to the museum and seems to be devoting one room to genealogical materials. I know they have been somewhat surprised to have gotten visitors who used the material, so anyone who goes to Lincoln, please stop in, take a look and mention that you did. I had a long look around the library over Christmas, trying to figure out where to start a genealogy reading room, but the simple truth is, there is no room in that building to do it. They are stretched to the limit and accessibility is questionable; the stairs to the basement, for instance, are not very safe. So the room at the Kyne House may be the only option, and I hope any of you who visit will check it out. I have been donating cemetery records and making scrapbooks (including indexes) out of old issues of the newspapers and other people are donating family histories. In fact, if you have a family history you want to donate, I'm sure they'd love to have it. Tracee
