Hi guys, You sure have given me some useful ideas of things to do and people to contact. You are keeping me busy. I will let you all know what I come up with. I did contact the person about the "Dead town list" They wrote: Dear Audra: The only information I find in our "Dead Towns List" is a copy of a letter dated 1977 from Kent D. Johnson of Rice, KS to a Mrs. Albert. He doesn't provide much information, but states, "the story on Aginville is that it was little more than a store with pretensions in Lincoln County, north of Shady Bend." It appears that you have more detailed information about this community than we have. ---Then stated other people to contact, things about the pictures, etc. ********** Part of an email from the person who sent me the information about the town. I asked him, if he had been there? his reply: The only time I ever visited what was left of Aginville was back in the 60's when I went with my Dad (Harold F.) and Granddad (George F.) I was home on leave from the service and we went target shooting in the country and visited the area, at my request. There was nothing left of the townsite except the foundations of a couple buildings. Even during its "heyday" (roughly, we believe , the 1890's to 1912 or so (?), Aginville wasn't much more than a wide spot in the road; but, for a while, it did have a "post office" at the general store and creamery and was a "milk and cream" stop on the branch line of the railroad. I'd love to have something postmarked from there, or a map with the name noted, but am doubtful that any such thing exists anymore.
