This is a little off topic, but I couldn't resist sharing this with the list. I was researching my Quillin line and started looking in geographical areas that hadn't occured to me before. On a hunch, I e-mailed a woman listed on a querie for an unfamiliar (to me) Iowa county, who was also researching the name Quillin. The hunch paid off, and I found a missing link that has allowed me to trace the line back to at least 1750. But the real story is the one that Doris Russell, the woman I contacted, told me. Follow the link below to the DeMoines Register and read the article entitled "Harvey has a family." It is a very moving story about how genealogy can lead you down unexpected paths (there is even a Kansas connection): http://www.dmregister.com/news/stories/c4788998/13032272.html Doris Russell and Harvey Quillin, both mentioned in the story, are distant relatives of mine. Happy holidays to all. Scott Holl
