Posted on: Lincoln Co. Ks Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ks/Lincoln/25 Surname: Knapp ------------------------- I'm looking for information on a man named Knapp, who was buried in Russell Springs Kansas between 1860 and 1900. He had at least one son named Gilbert Clyde Knapp who later moved to Clark's Ridge Arkansas in the early 1920's. Any information is greatly appreciated. I believe his uncle or father was Samuel Knapp. I believe that settled in Lincoln county after leaving New York.
Hello Lincoln COunty researchers.... Sorry for writing so soon but I just got an email that might be of some help to those of you who subscribe to more than one rootsweb.com email list. This comes from Kathleen, who runs a bazillion email lists and is one of the most helpful people out there on the Internet. -----------------------Kathleen writes: One more item: In all of this mess, you might have been unsubscribed from a list by the system. I suggest you go to Password Central http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ and type in your e-mail address and ask for a list of mailing list you are subscribed to. You will receive it in just a few moments. This way, you can see if you have been unsubscribed from a list you do not want to be removed from. I can see this is going to be a long night. Hello Lincoln COunty researchers.... As Tracee pointed out in an earlier email today the Lincoln County genealogy email list has been down for at least a day. The company that runs the list, rootsweb.com, took down a bunch of their email lists in order to do some "plumbing work." This is the sort of necessary stuff that causes problems but must be dealt with when you live along the Information Super Highway. Unfortunately with the down time came a few problems. Some folks were inadvertantly logged off email lists by mistake. Of course sending this email out to the list isn't helpful for the folks who have been disconnected from the Lincoln County list because they're not getting it! But I would say that if you don't hear from another rootsweb.com email list that you subscribe to and get mail from regularly within a week you might want to check to see if you are still subscribed. Many thanks to Tracee for ALL OF THE INFORMATION (excuse me for yelling but that was a heck of a lot of stuff, Traccee!) she has recently put up on the webpage. Keep in mind that this is a volunteer run effort so thank you's are the "pay" contributors get. With that in mind I told Tracee she needed her "salary" doubled for all the work she's done.... so I'm giving her a THANK YOU!!!!! that's twice as big as usual!<grin> Happy hunting Bill Sowers

Hello Lincoln Co researchers.... We have a new query on the Lincoln Co KSGenWeb page. I have the full text of it here for you: - --------------------------------------------- Gerry Oehler (email: digers@sk.sympatico.ca) - 28 Dec 2000 Thanks in advance for your attention. I'm looking for any information with regards to my grandfather: John K. OEHLER. Born at Sylvan Grove in 1897. Also looking for any history that would help me locate the land that my G-Grandfather Jacob OEHLER farmed for 10 years near Sylvan Grove. They farmed that land from 1892 until 1903. They then moved on to Oregon, then finally Canada. My grandfather often talked about the river that flowed thru that land. All my grand-father used to talk about, was his childhood in Kansas. I would love to visit Lincoln County some day, and hope to even find the land he so fondly talked about. Hello Lincoln County researchers...... Tracee, Diana and Bill have been working hard the past month or so to revamp the Lincoln County KS page. We had become a victim of our own success. The main page went on and on and on. So we've set up a three menu arrangement which we're hoping will assist you more easily in navigating the page. Take a look at the new page at: http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/lincoln/index.html This is the same URL as the old page... we've just covered it over. The Lincoln County menu will take you to various subject area pages within the Lincoln County site. We tried covering everything we could think of. Comments and suggestions are appreciated. Our best wishes to all of you for a healthy, happy 2001. Tracee, Diana and Bill
