Ginny, I've lost your email address and I have something for you; drop me a line. Also, someone was looking for an obituary or information on Claude McCanles, who died in 1898. If that person is still out there, get in touch with me. Thanks, and sorry... Tracee

Hello Bill & Diana: You just made our christmas with your apple piece. Jacob Wiedman was Arlene's great grandfather. We knew he had an orchard, but had not been able to find any documentation on it, just what was passed down through family members. Jacob used to deliver nursery stock out of his wagon many miles from home. Jacob delivered a large number of trees by wagon to the Hillie Ranch located Just south the Smoky Hill River in southern Trego County, a distance of abt 140 miles. We now have all of the cemeteries that I walked in Graham County on line, I will do the Hill City After I finish the Wakeeney in Trego County. I have all of the Trego Cemeteries on line except the WaKeeney. I have it Walked, Cataloged & Recorded. I have about 1/3 ready to go on line, but have to finish everything first, so as to have it all in alphabetical order. I keep checking out the Lincoln County Site, You, Diana & Tracee are still tops in my book. If you don't mind I would like to use the Wiedman Apple article in my Family History book. We wish you & your loved ones a happy & great 2002! Hi, folks. A few additions to the page you might be interested in. I've added the beginnings of a collection of stories I run across that don't fit anywhere else on the page, but that are funny or otherwise interesting. This is the URL: http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/lincoln/dirhumor.htm Of particular interest may be the three-part series the Beacon ran in 1896 describing the eligible bachelors of the county in honor of Leap Year -- when women were "allowed" to propose to men! The URLs for the three parts are below with a list of surnames found on each page. http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/lincoln/bach1.htm Part I: Anderson, Arthur, Aufdemberge, Barley, Berry, Berquist, Brann, Brockett, Brumbaugh, Burt, Crowe, Cheney, Davis, Dunham, Elord, Hall, Harris, Hedrick, Helton, Hibbs, Hutchison, Lerch, Linker, Menoher, Miller, Mitchell, Moss, Munch http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/lincoln/bach2 Part II: Adamson, Hall, Hanson, Kelly, Kilmer, McReynolds, Pontius, Roenigk, Ryan, Schellinger, Shire, Stewart, Strawn, Stover, Stubbs, Thompson, Webber, Wood http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/lincoln/bach3.htm Part III: Allison, Anderson, Arthur, Brunt, Crawford, Frink, Hull, Joslin, McElheney, McMichael, Smith, Thomas, Trump, Watts, Wilcox, Wilson, Wingett, Yenser As an example of how much fun these can be, here is my great-grandfather's entry: J.D. Brockett: Is not a bachelor but looks very, very eligible. Belongs to Lincoln’s 400 and rides the bicycle, plays crokinole and sells lumber. Is a regular attendant at the M.E. Sunday school and sings in the choir. Is tall and lithe and slender, has fine black eyes and elegant moustache and is altogether lovely. Also new: the story of the murder of Wesley Foulke: http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/lincoln/crime1897.htm I think that's it for now. Tracee

I am not sure if it can also be found in a Lincoln newspaper. Would anyone in our group be able to make me a copy of that obituary or find out what it says? I would very pleased if some one could do that for me. Many thanks in advance, Franz Hrazdira
Hi, folks! I'm just plowing through a pile of stuff from my October trip to Kansas. It was nice and quiet in Lincoln; just what I was looking for. It's very tense in your Nation's Capital. Friday at work we had a bomb threat that kept us on the street for 2 hours, following by the news that our building has tested positive for "bacteria." We'll know in a few days if it's the a-word. I am SURE it's not but it makes work v. interesting. Anyway, I filled in some holes in some of my obituary lists and added some names to the page. Here are the new ones: 1892 Wilmarth, R.S. 1894 Sheppard, George Ezra 1895 Adamson, Elizabeth 1896 Bird, Leonard Leroy Gleeson, Mary Ruth Post, Maria Rearwin, Eli C. Shaffer, Jacob Skinner, Darius Calvin 1898 Dengate, Jimmy Glasscock, Jennie nee Gunn Hopkins, Anna nee Bonner Kleinschmidt, William Lewis, David V. Otte, John Henry Phelps, Chauncey E. Robinson, Matilda Rulon Wilson Weaver, Luther Guy 1899 Little, James 1900 Capper, Eliza McCammon 1920 Kroenlein, Henry I also added a new index, for 1884. Here are those names: Allison, Mrs. S.C. Anderson, Mrs. M.J. Bohling, Dora Brown, Kate H. Coffman, James Henry Conley, William Hall, George Hansen, Paul Martin Harris, Edgar Mason Hendrickson, Amy F. Lance, Luella Charlotte Leggitt, George Lynam, George N. Marshall, Marion McCormick, Martha J. McGilvray, Annie Harper McKenzie, John Reed, Laura Simpson, Nathaniel P.
