Author: mkat7722 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.leavenworth/1174.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The many friends of Mr. Luke Coffey will regret to learn of his death, which occurred yesterday at the residence of his granddaughter, Mrs. Conley, 219 Dakota street; the deceased was 87 years of age and had a large circle of friends. Funeral this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home (The Leavenworth Times, April 10, 1887) I did not find one for Bridget; odd that he is not found on the 1875, 1880, or 1885 censuses. The enumerator must have either misspelled his name or had poor handwriting. He is listed in the Leavenworth city directories from 1870 until his death. He had a son named John, and either a son or a brother named Martin--the three are listed on the 1859 Leavenworth County, Stranger Twp. census, and all say they came to Kansas in 1857. The 1865 census lists Luke, Bridget and a 24 year old Nicholas Coffey. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
