I found a death notice for Bridget--not much to it, doesn't even mention her first name. However, I believe it is she, because there is a Bridget Coffey 1804-Dec. 30, 1878 buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Leavenworth. It is on Findagrave. The John Coffey who died in 1906 is her son. And there is a "Cook Coffey" died April 9,1887 who I suspect is Luke--the dates of death are the same. Someone probably could not read the old handwriting or misunderstood his name.I have sent a message to the person who created his memorial to correct the name, and link him to Bridget. "COFFEY--Died, at her residence, Main street, between Pawnee and Dacotah streets, Monday afternoon at 5 o'clock. The funeral will take place Wednesday morning at 9:30 o'clock from her late residence. Friends of the family are invited to attend." (The Leavenworth Times, Dec. 31, 1878) I don't know if Nicholas is their son or grandson--I just know he is listed on the 1860 and1865 census with Luke and Bridget, ages 18 and 24, respectively. Both censuses gave his birthplace as Ireland. The 1865 gave his profession as "regular soldier" but I can't find him in any Kansas military records. I do think that John and Martin were their sons. I believe Martin moved to Jackson Co., Kansas--he was married to a Julia McCann in Leavenworth. I found Luke and Bridget on the 1875 census; they gave their previous residence as New York. However, on the 1885, Martin gave his residence previous to Kansas as Illinois. I also think at one time most of them were in Massachusetts. I am not related, just nosy.
