    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Fm.2ADE/77.3.1 Message Board Post: The Leavenworth National Cemetery and the National Soldiers Home are two totally different things. The cemetery is what it says it is....a cemetery. The Leavenworth National Cemetery actually encompasses to separate locations managed by one office...the Fort Leavenworth site located at Fort Leavenworth and the Leavenworth site located adjacent to the Veterans Medical center. The National Soldiers home, as it was originally known has evolved as follows: National Soldiers Home-Western Branch Wadworth VA Hospital Dwight D Eisenhower VA Medical Center It is now known as Eastern Kansas Health Care System-Eastern Campus It integrated with Colmery O'Neill VA Medical Center in Topeka Kansas several years ago to form the Eastern Kansas Health Care System. I believe that you might be right about not having any old records there anymore. About 15 years ago they did have alot of very old records from what was known as the Soldiers Home in storage but I have been told that these are no longer kept there. I am not sure where they might be now. You might try calling the Leavenworth VA Medical center site at 913-682-2000 and ask for "Release of Information" and see if they can give you any information on where these records might be. Hope this helps.
