    1. Re: [KSLEAVEN] Service Surname in Stranger Township, 1880
    2. Hi, I looked in the card file at the Tonganoxie library on Friday and could find nothing on the Service name no matter how I spelled it. I live in Stranger Township and it is in Leavenworth County just outside Tonganoxie City limits. Sorry I couldn't be of any help and I hope you have a good day. Sue Henry in hot and steamy Kansas

    1. [KSLEAVEN] Service Surname in Stranger Township, 1880
    2. I am searching for Jacob Service. He lived in Stranger Township in 1880 (census) with his wife, Matilda. Children living with them were: John and Rebecca Service. Grandchildren living with them: Murry Clinton, age 3, and May Saddo, age 3 months. Matilda had consumption and was in poor health. I have been unable to find Jacob and his family after 1880. Rebecca later spelled her name Surface; I have found the cemetery records for her, but I would like to trace Jacob and his wife and their ancestors. Is Stranger Township part of Tongonoxie (or vice versa)? Would there be any records in the Tongonoxie Library about Jacob or Matilda's deaths or burial? C. Henley Maryland

    2. Keith Winkelman
    3. Hi listers, I have reason to believe my ggg grandfather Frederick Winkelman is buried in Leavenworth County. He died in 1882 in Lanape, and I was told he was buried in Eudora Cemetary, but I can find no record of such a cemetary. It's possible that it could be Mount Sidney or Union Congregational, though, as there are Winkelmans buried in both. Is anyone familiar with a Eudora Cemetary in the county and, if so, would be willing to see if he's buried there? I would be willing to reimburse gas, film, time, etc. for this. Keith Winkelman

The city of Eudora is in Douglas County near Lawrence, Kansas. You might take a look at: http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/douglas/cemlist.htm This indicates several "Eudora" cemeteries and several other cemeteries in the area. Your best shot might be a query through Douglas County. You might also check: http://helplist.org/usa/ks.shtml#JudyMace Happy hunting! Stan McKean

    1. [KSLEAVEN] Howard/Ryan family history
    2. I am interested in Martin and Julia Ryan Howard. Julia was born in New York. Martin died in 1902 at his brother's farm 4 miles South of Tonganoxie, Kansas. Both Julia and Martin are buried at Mount Calvery Catholic Cemetary at Leavenworth, Kansas. They had one son Dennis Howard born in Leavenworth, Kansas who was still living in 1945 in Chicago, Illinois. Martin's cousin was Martin B. Howard who was Leavenworth County Superintendent of school's for several years. Julia's parents were Michael and Mary Joyce Ryan. Joyce was her last name. After Martin's death at age 35 Julia married a Wagner. I would like to know where in New York Julia was born and where Dennis died. Anything on this family appreciated. [email protected]
