    1. [KSLEAVEN] McCrackens in Leavenworth, 1860s-1880s
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: mccracken, mcgregor, milliken Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Fm.2ADE/216 Message Board Post: Hi - I'm looking for info about McCrackens who were in the Leavenworth area somewhere between 1867-1880. In the 1880 census, the whole family is in Atchison KS. Samuel Milliken McCracken (b PA 1825) and Rebecca Mary McGregor (b PA 1833-1841 - I know, big discrepancy!) were married in 1856 in Stephenson Co IL. They eventually settled in Atchison, Atchison Co, KS, where they died in 1904 and 1907, respectively. Children: Anna Mary, b. 1858, Ogle Co, IL Lucinda, b. 1861, CO (d. 1873) Martha, b. 1864, Platte Co, MO Nancy Jane, b. 1867, Bran (?) Co, IA Clara Mary, b. 1871, on the government reserve, Ft. Leavenworth, KS (d. 1873) Samuel's parents were William and Mary (Milliken) McCracken, also both born in PA. William died in PA, but Mary died in Atchison KS in 1879 (poss while living with Samuel & Rebecca?). Samuel had a brother, John M. McCracken born in 1831 (prob PA), and a sister, Martha McCracken, b abt 1840 in PA. Martha was living with Samuel & co. in 1880, according to census. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I will respond in kind! Michele McClain Rudd

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Eirls, Mason Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Fm.2ADE/129.2.1 Message Board Post: I have the death date of Lon H. Eirls as being 29 Mar 1949 and he is buried at Dekalb, MO at Westlawn Cemetery, I'm not sure about the plot number but it is on the corner by the school. Along with him you will find Nellie Marie Eirls Mason died 20 Jan 1954, there is also some McDevitts that fit in with this family but I don't know right off the top of my head exactly how. I think Alice Mcdevitt might have been an Eirls. I can find out if you are interested. Lon is in the 1930 US Census with Nellie his wife, Lonel and Deloris. Nellie sometimes went by Marie , she was married to Loyd Aaron Mason and they had four children Charles, Harold, Mary Jane and Findley but was changed to Finley in the service and he lives in Dekalb. Nellie was a sister to Lon and maybe to Jess, I know he is related somehow. Lons parents were Phillip H. and either Ollie or Olive Eirls my aunt said she thinks Ollie's maiden name was Houseman but she isn't sure. I haven't found much on them other the census records. There is a Lonel Eirls buried in Leavenworth.

    1. [KSLEAVEN] lookup
    2. ELEANOR McCAIN
    3. Does anyone have access to "The Protestant Orphans Asylum" - by Graden, to do a lookup for me, please? I am searching for the following children who might have been placed there after Aug. 1869: O'BRIEN: Kate (Katherine L.), Addie (Mary Adelaide), Lawrence B., Louise U. (Lulu), Florence L., and/or Grace. A request to borrow a copy of the book by Interlibrary Loan was rejected by all 3 locations that have the book - for the reason that the book does not circulate. Perhaps there is someone familiar with this book who might be able to help me. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Eleanor McCain [email protected] Concord, NH

    2. Colleen Lill
    3. Does anyone have access to the book Cemetery Surname Index of Leavenworth Co KS by Baker and Pierce? If so, I would like to request a lookup for the name Cyrus Taylor, possibly on Tonganoxie Twp. If no one has access to the book any suggestions? I have requested copies from the LDS but it could be upwards of 50 copies, they tell me. And with their recent price increase for per page copies, the cost would be a little on the high side for me, considering that I live in Canada. Thanks for any help. Colleen Lill Saskatoon, Canada
