Written on the back is the following: "These are my 1st cousins May and Laura Pate. Daughters of Robert W. Pate. By Laura Hoad Kenned." The photo was taken in Leavenworth, Kansas. Appears to be early 1900s. I'm hoping this photo can return to its family. It is available for my cost ($2) plus postage.

I posted a query July 31 and did not receive any replies. I found a notation that our ancestor was on the 1859 Kansas State census. He is shown on p.59 of KS 1859 State Census. His wife Margaret became ill and died about 1858 in Leavenworth. I never found her death record. Addison was in California when she became ill so he went to Leavenworth, but I think he did not stay long, and then went to Missouri and/or Texas. My question was, does the state census show family members? Can one borrow the microfilm at the library by interlibrary loan just like we borrow census films? Thank you. Zelda. [email protected]
Charlotte, THanks for the info. but I already have my Samuel Parker's death information.. he died in 1903 in Mobile, AL and buried in the Magnolia Cemetery there... I think his stay in KS or Kansas city, MO may have only been abt. 1875-1888 +/- so if you know of or see anything in that time frame... I was told that his daughter Hattie May Parker was born in Leavenworth, KS abt. 1883 thanks again. cheers and peace, brian

Brian, I found a possible listing for your Samuel. If you think it might be him, you could write to the cemetery office in Leavenworth to request a copy of the information that they have. From there, you might obtain his pension records from the National Archives -- this can contain a wealth of information. http://www.interment.net/data/us/ks/leavenworth/leavenat/leaven_opar.htm Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS: > Parker, Saml, d. 07/18/1905, Plot: 20 4 18, bur. 07/18/1905 Charlotte
Hi everyone, I was helped by a new friend in IA who found more information on a great aunt of mine which I am hoping will help my find more on her parents, her dad and his 2nd wife are my gg grandparents.... maybe you can help or guide me with info. from your area?? Im looking for info. on Samuel R. (S. R.) PARKER and he married 1st: Harriet "Hattie" May DANIELS.... THEIR Daughter, my great aunt was born about 1883/1884, her name was Hattie May Parker..... b. Leavenworth, KS per census and other records... I think her parents probably married between 1880-1883, any early marriage in that county for that time period? What about trying to find Hattie May Parker's birth record in 1883 or 1884?? Now, I think or am almost certain that my great aunt's mother Hattie May DANIELS PARKER must have died sometime in that time frame, certainly BEFORE 1888, because her father, S. R. Parker (Samuel) married Annie B. Clark in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie, IA..... So maybe there might be a death record of sort on his 1st wife Hattie May Daniels Parker? Would love any help or advice and am here to offer any help or advice in any way I can... Thanks for your time and kindness. cheers and peace, brian w williams new orleans

Was very short, but it was nice to find and I was able to get a copy of the death certificate after that. Thomas was from Putnam, GA in Marion County. His father Willliam was born in Americus. Williams father Thomas was born in SC, I have not been able to trace them back further. Our branch of the Greshams stayed in the South. Tom was a traveling man to speak. Very handsome, he died of TB and the body was sent back to Putnam. Judy

Sorry I am not able to help, hopefully you have a copy of the obit by now. I am just curious where your Greshams came from? My Gresham line came to Atchison County around 1868 or so from Harrison County, IN. Several of the Greshams are buried in Miller cemetery, Brown Co KS. Joseph and his wife Olivia Patterson Gresham came to KS from Harrison Co IN. Also their children Wm., James, and John and his wife Mary Markel Gresham and children. John's son Charles and adult grandchildren moved to Fremont County Ia during the mid 1930's. My father Lloyd Gresham remained in IA and the rest of Charles children eventually moved to St Jo, MO area. Could we be connected at all? Mary H

----- Original Message ----- From: Jim Laird To: Jim Laird Sent: Sunday, August 17, 2003 10:33 AM Subject: Mrs. S.A. KYLE Dies On A Visit In Montana. The McLouth Times Friday February 10, 1905 Mrs. S.A. Kyle Dies On A Visit In Montana. Was Mrs. R.W. Reynolds Mother. The attached from the Great Falls Montana Leader, of January 30th, concerns the death in that city of Mrs. S.A. KYLE, one of Leavenworth's pioneer women. The news it contains will be read with deep regret on part of many Leavenworth people, particularily the older settlers. Sarah Ann KYLE, the aged mother of A.T. KYLE and G.H. KYLE of this city, died this morning at 3 o'clock at 669 Sixth Ave. south. Mrs. Kyle was 71 years and 6 months of age. She had come here from Leavenworth, Ks. last fall for a visit with the sons and death overtook here before she was able to return to her home. The funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock and interment will be made in Highland cemetery. Mrs. Kyle was the only daughter of Geo. H. KELLER, (familiarly known in the early days as Uncle George) who was the builder and owner of the first hotel in Leavenworth, which soon became known as the home of the Free state sympathizers and supporters of that movement. Sarah Ann Keller came to this city in the spring of 1854 with her father, who was one of the founders of the city, and who builded the first wing of the Kansas state prison and was its first warden. Miss Ann, as she was called in those days, was the life and ruling spirit of the well known old 'Leavenworth hotel' and some of the city's oldest residents will remember her hospitality, and all who ever had the pleasure of her acquaintance, then or in later days, were always made welcome in her home and will think back of her with pleasure now mingled with sorrow. Although a Christian woman and an early Methodist, her home was her church and doing good her primary religion. Her eldest daughter, who died here some ten years ago, was the wife of James M. ALLEN and the other daughter, Mrs. R.W. REYNOLDS is a resident of McLouth, Kansas.
