    3. The Topeka Daily State Journal Friday February 1, 1918 Pioneer Printer Dead John C. KETCHENSON Was in Business in Leavenworth 50 Years. Leavenworth, Kan., Feb. 1,-- John C. KETCHENSON, past 80, and a pioneer printer in Kansas, died this morning at his home here. Pneumonia caused death. He was prominent in Grance Army affairs for years and was on the front line fighting all during the Civil war. KETCHENSON operated a printing office in Leavenworth for more than fifty years and for the past fifty years has printed the proceedings of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Kansas. His lodge work and Grand Army work was all his life in later years, as he had no immediate relatives, his wife dying many years ago.

Joyce Elaine Biester, 66, Valley Falls, died May 22, 2004, at her home after an extended illness. She was born Aug. 1, 1937, at Hooker, S.D., the daughter of Gustave A. and Violet Edblum Johnson. She graduated from Leavenworth High School in 1955. Mrs. Biester and her husband operated a dairy and later a grain and cattle farm west of Valley Falls. She was a member of Valley Falls United Methodist Church and the Swabville Club. She married Edwin L. Biester on Oct. 25, 1956, at Leavenworth. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Clay Biester and Chris Biester and wife Jacque, all of Valley Falls; a daughter, Cindy Parker and husband Woodie, Valley Falls; two brothers, Glenn Johnson, Leavenworth, and Virgil Johnson, Lansing; and three grandchildren, Jessica Biester, Joshua Biester and Neil Parker, all of Valley Falls. A brother, Duane Johnson, preceded her in death. Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. May 26 at Valley Falls United Methodist C! hurch. Private inurnment will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson County Hospice, sent in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 6, Valley Falls, KS 66088.     3. I can't be 100% sure but this was the only William found in 1930 at the age of 8. Missouri, Mercer County, Marion twp. ED # 65-7 and sheet # 1 Wm McReynolds age 29 married at 19 general farmer no military farm #4 Cassie age 28 married at 18 no occupation Annie P. age 9 Wm A. age 8 All were born in Missouri as were there parents.     3. Hi List, I have a problem and I hope the wonderful soul who bailed me out of a similar problem a year or so ago is still in fine form. William Griffith, born at Parkville, Platte county MO c1844 married Susan M. ____. Their marriage record is not in Platte County. In 1870 they were living in Platte county and Susan was age 18. This suggests they were married c1868-1869. I know from experience a number of people crossed the river from Platte county to marry in Kansas.
