I have heard the name Ostrander mentioned before as a maiden name for Clarissa. It was said that the woman who found the name was working in the Steuben County Clerks office and has researched it. Unfortunately, that woman has passed away so the information could not be verified. I would be interested in going back from Thomas Waight b. 1782 in Rhode Island but I have not been successful there either. I was told the Waights came from England/Wales. I will continue to share information with you as it comes. I do not have a family tree posted online. I believe my mother-in-law might. Her name is Maureen Waight Law. Thanks for sharing.
