Gallivan and his wife Margaret Dwyer Gallivan, who resided on a farm in McCamish, Kansas between 1882 and 1905. They raised 9 children there, then moved to the "big city" of Kansas City. At some point, they shortened their name to Galvin...I believe when they left the farm. Attached is a photo of the family on their farm in Kansas in the early 1900's. John may have spent his youth, along with his younger sister Mary on the Lovett farm in Gardner between 1870 and 1880. I believe that he met Margaret Dwyer while working as a hand on her cousin's John and Katey Dwyer's farm in nearby Palmyra (near Baldwin.) in early 1880's John was born in Kansas to John D. Gallivan ,Sr. and his wife Elizabeth Dwyer Gallivan, who both immigrated from Ireland before 1856. I am especially interested in information about the senior Gallivans, such as when they arrived, county of birth in Ireland, etc. Are there any cemeteries, Catholic or otherwise where I might search for graves? I will be visiting Kansas City in September, and would like to do some searching. Regards, Patricia Breen, g-grandaughter of John D., Sr. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
