It is an index of all Johnson County resident obituaries published in the Kansas City TIMES and Kansas City STAR newspapers. Go to this link: http://www.jocolibrary.org/default.aspx?id=2168 Select the OBITUARY Tab at the box on the lower left of your screen And then change the drop down box from KEYWORD SEARCH to SURNAME for the search criteria, enter the surname and click the Search button. They are in the process of updating the index to include the early county newspaper index, so you will see some of the names listed above in the search results. Click on the "more details' link to get the newspaper info, date of death and age at death. Then click on "request reprints" to see how to get a copy of the obituary. For those in the above index that also appear in the on line index, you might want to request the volunteers at the library to do the look up instead of inter-library loaning the newspaper microfilms. Let me know if you need the link to search for newspaper microfilm numbers to ILL the films from the Kansas State Historical Society. Good Luck and happy searching Dave Goldy Overland Park, KS Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
