I've "rescued" an old photograph of Morton GREELEY which was taken at the Purdy Photo Co. Studio in Atkinson or Stuart, NE. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with Morton appearing to be in his 30's at the time. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Morton and his family: Morton Youmans GREELEY was b. 14 Jun 1878 in Mukwonago, WI to parents Peter Patrick GREELEY (b. 1841 in Muskego, WI-1934) and Ellen Marie YOUMANS (b. 1843 in Java, NY-1932). Morton was one of 7 children born to this couple including, Mabel L.; Warren Hamilton; Emma: Morton; Bertha Ellen; Howard Peter; and Edna GREELEY, all born in Mukwonago, WI or Nebraska between 1872 and 1884. Morton had two sisters Mable L. GREELEY (1872-1881) and Edna GREELEY (1884-1884) that are buried in the same cemetery with him. Morton married Kittie C. PRICE (1877-1905) in 1902 in Holt Co. NE. His second marriage was to Lillian DAHMS (b. 12 Mar 1890 in Moline, IL-d Apr 1979 in Springfield, MO) with whom he had to children, Helen and Warren GREELEY, twins born in 1916 in NE. In 1918 Morton's draft documents indicate that he was living in Ocheltree, KS and that his birthdate was 12 Jun 1878, occupation Farmer, and his wife Lillian GREELEY. Morton died 28 Jul 1919 in Ashland, NE and is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Atkinson, NE. Census records provide the following details: 1900 census of Paddock & Saratoga Townships, Holt Co. NE: Peter GREELEY, age 58, born Sept 1842, married 31 years, born WI, a Farmer Emma GREELEY, dau, age 24, born Jan 1876, born WI Morton GREELEY, son, age 21, born Jun 1877, born WI + 1 Servant 1910 census of Saratoga, NE: Morton Y. GREELEY, age 31, born WI, parents born WI/NY, a Farmer I am hoping to locate someone from Morton's family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to their care.
