He was born Dec. 16, 1914, in Iola, the son of John Anton and Lillian Pearl Himes Fursman. He graduated from Moran High School and Fort Scott Community College. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. During his career, he owned and operated Fursman Ranch and Elevator in Iola, a Chrysler dealership in Chanute and Midwest Air-O-Cell in Mission. On May 10, 1941, he married Ethel M. Perry in Carlyle. She died April 17, 1996. Survivors include two brothers, John A. "Jack" Fursman Jr., Colony; and Robert H. Fursman, Colony; 17 nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at the Colony Cemetery, Colony, led by Lloyd Houk. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery. Sappington, age 88 passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2003, at her home. Memorial serv- ices will be 4 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2003, at D.W. Mrs. Sappington was born June 24 1915 in Centerville, KS. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and was a telephone operator with Pratt Whitney for many years, re- tiring first from Phillips Petroleum and then North Supply in 1981 as a recep- tionist. Wilma was an avid crafter in- cluding needlepoint, toll painting and ceramics which she taught in Bethany MO for five years. She and her hus- band organized a Holiday Display called Sock Circle in the late 1960s and 1970s. She loved antiques. While staying active in her retirement years Wilma and her husband enjoyed ball- room and tap dancing and danced with The Strutters. Mrs. Sappington was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lois M. Smith. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Paul P. Sappington, of the home; brother, Wilbur Frear, Center- ville, KS; nephews, Carl Frear, Prince- ton, KS and Stan Frear, Overland Park KS; nieces, Linda J.
