A. Kearney and his wife Lora M. Rogers who lived in Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas in the late 1870's--late 1880's. Was "J. A." Kearney's full name John A. Kearney, born about 1851 in Iowa? Did they have a son, Joseph L. Kearney, born July 1891? I am pursuing the possibility that J. A. Kearney was a son of Richard Kearney and Narcissa Jackson of Louisa County, Iowa, Lora Rogers Kearney died 5 Aug 1891, at the age of 34. She was predeceased by a 5-year-old daughter, Berdie L. Kearney. It can be speculated that Lora died shortly after giving birth to Joseph L. Kearney, if he was in fact her son. Joseph "Joe" L. Kearney, perhaps Lora's orphaned son, was living with two maiden aunts, Jane and Sarah Kearney, in Louisa County, Iowa at the time of the 1895 Iowa census. He was 3 years old. He still lived with them at the time of the 1900 census, age 8. By 1910 Joe was living in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska -- a single man. In June 1817 he registered for the World War I Draft from Kansas City, listing his birthdate as July 12, 1891 in Johnson County, KS, and listed only one dependent -- a "Foster Mother." What happened to John A. (or "J. A.") Kearney? John A. Kearney had a brother, Robert Emmet Kearney, who also live for a time in Johnson County, Kansas. He and his wife, Minnie, later moved to Jackson County, Missouri. Thank you for any help. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
