I found my grandparents marriage license and it states Bobby Moore was born 1/24/39 in Kansas City, MO. My grandmother tells me his name was actually Bobby and not Robert, and i didn't find either in the SSDI. In the 1957 license, his mother was Mrs. Pauline Lafferty living in Shawnee KS (Lafferty is her re-married name) and I couldn't find any SSDI info on her either, so she may have married again since then. Author: Lois_Franceschi Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.johnson/717.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: You probably need to request some death certificates for some of these folks. A death certificate has a lot of information on it (if filled out properly). Some of those things are where and when a person was born, the names of their parents (including the mother's maiden name) and the states/countries where they were born. When you have that information, it will help you find other information. Regarding your grandfather, Robert Moore is a very common name. When I searched the Social Security death index, I found 60 of them born in 1939. Without additional info there, it will be very difficult to identify him. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: broshire Surnames: Kearney, Jackson, Rogers Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.johnson/715/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for any information concerning a J. A. Kearney and his wife Lora M. Rogers who lived in Olathe, Johnson County, Kansas in the late 1870's--late 1880's. Was "J. A." Kearney's full name John A. Kearney, born about 1851 in Iowa? Did they have a son, Joseph L. Kearney, born July 1891? I am pursuing the possibility that J. A. Kearney was a son of Richard Kearney and Narcissa Jackson of Louisa County, Iowa, Lora Rogers Kearney died 5 Aug 1891, at the age of 34. She was predeceased by a 5-year-old daughter, Berdie L. Kearney. It can be speculated that Lora died shortly after giving birth to Joseph L. Kearney, if he was in fact her son. Joseph "Joe" L. Kearney, perhaps Lora's orphaned son, was living with two maiden aunts, Jane and Sarah Kearney, in Louisa County, Iowa at the time of the 1895 Iowa census. He was 3 years old. He still lived with them at the time of the 1900 census, age 8. By 1910 Joe was living in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska -- a single man. In June 1817 he registered for the World War I Draft from Kansas City, listing his birthdate as July 12, 1891 in Johnson County, KS, and listed only one dependent -- a "Foster Mother." What happened to John A. (or "J. A.") Kearney? John A. Kearney had a brother, Robert Emmet Kearney, who also live for a time in Johnson County, Kansas. He and his wife, Minnie, later moved to Jackson County, Missouri. Thank you for any help. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
