Author: dgoldy1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.johnson/760.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Chuck There is no listing for a Thomas S Osborn in the county library index. The index does include the year of 1986. You can search at this link. Maybe some of the other names will ring a bell for you..... http://obituary.jocolibrary.org/paged_results.asp?query=osborn&sloc=2&submit=Search I usually change drop down box on the right to SURNAME rather than KEYWORD. If you find one that interests you, click the "more details" link and then "Request Reprint" on the resulting page. They left a step out in their instructions. I got no hits on Evelyn's parents, so I assume they had no direct association with Johnson County. 1. [KSJOHNSO] 1887 Official State Atlas of Kansas (atlas on CD review)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: r_a_green Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.johnson/759/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Historic Atlas of Kansas Counties, an abridged atlas of county and city maps from 'The Official State Atlas of Kansas, Everts & Kirk, 1887'. The Historic Atlas of Kansas Counties (Zone 1-12) Atlas is a complete set of 1887 Kansas county maps. Each of the 12 Zones consists of a series of 8-10 bordering county maps making up all 106 Kansas counties. Each Zone Atlas contains high resolution scanned images of vintage 19th century county and city maps that are presented in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). Individual Zone CD's are available as well. In addition to all 106 Kansas county maps, there are nearly 800 city and village maps on this CD. City maps and plans are often more detailed and include the names of many original property owners, businesses, municipal buildings, etc. Please note: some small city and village map plans include street and lot detail only. Maps include the following 19th century features: * roads, railroads and canals * cities, towns and villages * post offices and government sites * one-room schoolhouses, churches and cemeteries * rivers, streams and ferries * racetracks, fairgrounds and picnic groves * industrial sites, furnaces and mills * early homesteads and farms - and much more The Historic Atlas of Kansas Counties may be an invaluable aid to Genealogists, Historians and researchers in search of 19th century Kansas places and place names. These early maps often contain many places that no longer exist or that have been obscured over time; the location of property owners, businesses, churches and cemeteries may assist genealogical researchers interested in Kansas history. The Adobe Acrobat Reader for MS Windows is needed to view, zoom, pan and print from the PDF map images contained in this atlas, and is included free on each CD. No other software is necessary. Read a complete review of this and other 19th century materials: http://home.comcast.net/~r_a_green/review.html Good luck in your research! She is buried in Mt. Saint Mary Cemetery. It is a Catholic Cemetery. Contact the office at this cemetery, as they have the records for all the Catholic cemeteries in Kansas City, MO. "There is a Mt. Olivet cemetery at 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, Mo. 64138, 816-353-1900. It is still an active Catholic cemetery" (pulled from a message in the Jackson County, Mo board here on rootsweb) When you contact them, you might inquire about John. Margaret died December 24, 1929. You can find her death certificate at this link http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/ John does not appear in this list, so I don't know when or where he died. I expect he is buried with his wife. There are a number of GALVIN who show up if you just do a surname search. maybe some of the others are related. You can take a look for GALVIN marriages in Johnson County at this link http://www.jococourts.org/ >From another list, there do not appear to be any GALVIN marriages in Johnson County between 1856 and 1907.
