Hiram married two Martha Jennings and this has been confusing trying to find out who they were. The 1870 census is confusing too! Hiram had recently married his second wife and had Manson. She then had two more children with Hiram. I can't figure out why she isn't shown with her new baby and husband? Yes, it seems that Manson was the product of Hiram's second marriage. A post online gives her name as Martha Pembroke. However, Manson's Texas Death Certificate lists his mother's name as "Mary Ellen unknown." Probably just misinformation given to the coroner.
