The Valley Falls New Era Thursday December 29, 1910 Attempted Holdup. Shortly after Harry OWENS opened the meat market early last Friday morning a stranger walked in and asked him if he had any money. Harry was in front of the counter. He answered no and turning his pockets inside out offered the fellow all he had--a piece of tobacco. The man asked, "Are you sure you have no money?" Harry began to feel like dropping through the floor when some one was heard approaching and the would be robbert walked out telling Harry not to move and disappeared in the semi-darkness.
