    3. The McLouth Times Jefferson County Friday October 28, 1949 Charles Oceola Shrader. Charles Oceoa SHRADER was born into one of the earliest pioneer families of Jefferson County on February 17, 1874 and was the son of Charley and Cassie Adeline Shrader. He departed this life in the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he was taken for care and treatment following an accidental injury on his farm, October 17, 1949 at the age of seventy-five years, eight months. Oce Shrader, as he was commonly known to all his neighbors, and friends, commanded the respect and esteem of all who knew him. His reputation for fair and upright dealings in the commerical world was only surpassed by his love and affection for his immediate family and relatives. He spent his entire life upon the farm, near the scene of his birth, three miles northwest of the town of McLouth. His interest in his chosen vocation was evidenced by his reluctance to leave his farm home of so many years, with the view to establishing his home in his recently acquired town property. At the turn of the century, March 14, 1900, he was married to Mabel ROBERTS, of the Central Chapel neighborhood. Th Little Church, known as the Central Chapel, of Methodist South demonination, stands today on the corner of the farm owned to the present time by Mr. Shrader and his good wife. It was in this little chapel that he regularly attended religious services when the opportunity afforded, and it was here he that he learned the divine will of God, and the urge to follow the teachings of the "Golden Rule." In addition to his widow, he is survived by his son, William of McLouth, four sisters, Mrs. Asenoth BOYD and Mrs. Bessie LOBB, both of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Myrtle BROWN and Mrs. Viola READY, both of Kansas City, Kansas; his step-mother, Mrs. Fanny SHRADER, and three grandchildren, Mrs. mary Lynn DOBBS of East Greenwich, Rhode Island, Charles E. Shrader of Portland, Oregon, and Robert Lee Shrader of McLouth. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Thaddeus, Jacob W., Harry and Edgar; also by three sisters, Mary Irene SLAWSON, Maude SHELDON, and Ethel SMITH. The funeral was held Wednesday at the Methodist church, with burial in McLouth cemetery. Bradfords Funeral Home was in charge. Card of Thanks. We wish to thank our many friends, relatives and neighbors for their thougtfullness, the many expressions of sympathy and beautiful floral gatherings during the illness and death of our husband, father, and grandfather. Mrs. Mabel Shrader, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shrader, Robert Lee Shrader, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Shrader, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Dobbs.
