    3. The Meriden Message Jefferson County Friday March 13, 1931 Malinda Francis McCLAIN was born Jan. 1, 1884, in Putman County, Mo., and departed this life, March 1, 1931, at the age of 87 years and two months. Coming to Kansas with her parents at the age of two years, they spent three years at Fort Scott, Kansas, then came to Jefferson County where she had resided continously since practically all this time in Ozawkie. She was united in marriage with Matthew LOGSDON in 1865, and to them three daughters and three sons were born. Her companion died thirty-one years ago, leaving here with the care and responsibility of the home. Being frail of body and almost blind for twenty-two years she was greatly hindered in life's activities, but went quietly about doing what she could to fill her place in the home. She was a believer in the Christian religion and lived in the hope of better things to come. But on account of her physical condition she seldom went any where, choosing rather to spend her days quietly at home. Her son, John, who had been with her in the home and Ben F. of Hargrave, Kansas are the only children left. Mrs. Mamie BARRETT of Topeka, and Mrs. Blanche HITE of Grand Island, Nebraska, granddaughters, and one brother, Ben, of Perne, Kan. These five will miss her most. And yet, the whole community is saddened by the tragedy connected with her sudden going out from us. The funeral was conducted from the Church of the Brethren, Wednesday, March 4th, 2:00 p.m.
