The Valley Falls Vindicator Jefferson County Wednesday July 9, 1941 Bessie CORY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George GILMORE, was born on January 2, 1890, and departed this life June 30, 1941, at the age of 51 years, 5 months and 28 days. She grew to womanhood in the community just west of Hamburg where she spent her entire life. Mrs. Cory had not been in good health for some time, but her death came as a sudden shock to her friends and relatives. She was a faithful member of the Baptist church, having become a member of that church in her early childhood, and was always known as a true and devout christian. On July 19, 1931, she was united in marriage to Mr. Alvin Cory, and since that time she and her husband had lived on the farm where she spent her childhood. Besides her husband and her aged mother, she leaves to mourn her passing one brother, Abner Gilmore, of Longmont, Colo., two sisters, Leta Gilmore and Elma SPIEGEL, both of Hamburg, besides many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Hamburg Baptist church at 2 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. J. Gilbert Hutchinson. Interment was made in the Hamburg cemetery.--The Hamburg (Iowa) Reporter.
